Dear Brother,
Sub: Delay in revising the Kilometrage rates and other Allowances for Running Staff -non-implementation of agreements reached with NFIR on other major issues-reg.
I on behalf of NFIR and my own convey best wishes to our cadres and pray for happy prosperous and healthy New Year 2018 to all Railway employees and their family members.
I also take this opportunity to convey my best wishes and happy New Year-2018 to all those Senior Citizens who served the Railways and contributed for its growth. I wish all those veterans longest and healthy life.
You are aware that many issues are continued unresolved resulting agony and disappointment among Railway employees of various categories. It is needless to emphasis that NFIR has been consistently making efforts for achieving results. While there is some improvement on issues of Technicians, Track Maintainers, SMs etc., it is however sad to state that the agreements reached on some major issues are yet to be implemented by the Government, notably replacement of Grade Pay 4600 with GP 4800, allotment of GP 4600 for Mail Loco Pilots, upgradation of apex Group ‘C’ posts to Group ‘B’ Gazetted.
The Government (MoF) has empowered Railway Ministry to decide revision of Kilometrage Allowance and other Running Staff related Allowances in consultation with the Federations (NFIR). Although two meetings have been held by the Railway Board, there has been no satisfactory development as of now. NFIR has already placed its case very cogently, demanding hike in the rate of Kilometrage Allowance and corresponding increase of other Allowances for the Running Staff.
As the rank and file of the NFIR along with Railway employees will be conducting New Year celebrations from January 1, 2018 and Makar Sankranti after few days thereafter, NFIR calls upon its affiliates to organize mass meetings, demonstrations and rallies at stations, depots, sheds, workshops and at Divisional levels during the period to voice Railwaymen’s disappointment and lodge protest against Railway Ministry’s evasive attitude and its failure to honour agreements.
Report on protest actions conducted should be conveyed to the Federation’s Office promptly, treating the matter as important.
Yours fraternally
