Will the Minister of
HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:-
(a) whether the Government proposes to open more Kendriya Vidyalayas in the districts which merit special attention due to large population of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) and if so, the details thereof,
State/Location-wise;
(b) whether 50 per cent seats are likely to be reserved for SC and ST population in these schools and if so, the details thereof;
(c) if not, the reasons therefor; and
(d) the steps taken/being taken by the Government in this regard along with the time by which such Kendriya Vidyalayas are likely to be opened?

(a) The Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) are opened primarily to cater to the educational needs of the wards of transferable Central Government Employees including Defence personnel on receipt of the proposal in the prescribed performance from a Ministry / Department of Government of India / State Governments / Union
Territory Administration committing thereby availability of requisite resources for setting up a new KV as well as on availability of necessary sanction of the Government.At present, there is no proposal to open KVs in districts having large concentration of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs)population.
(b)& (c) As per the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Admission Guidelines, out of the seats available for fresh admission, 15% are reserved for SCs and 7.5% are reserved for STs.
(d) In view of (a) above, question does not arise.
