This is with reference to suggestions given by me in the MoC Video Conference dated 30.03.2020 regarding providing short term additional life insurance for all the GDS BPMs and other GDS and also enhanced medical reimbursement for COVID – 19 affected GDS staff.
2. in Telangana, there are 10,012 GDS staff. In view of Aasara – Social Security Pensions to be disbursed for over 22 Lakh beneficiaries on behalf of Government of Telangana, we are keeping open all BOs. Necessary care is being taken for providing personal protection gear as well as ensuring necessary social distancing with the support of Village Revenue Officer and local Police. However, there is a potential risk that our GDS staff may face in view of large number of beneficiaries attending Branch Post Offices for pensions collection, doing Savings Bank, IPPB transactions, etc.

3. In this context, I request you to kindly examine the possibility of providing –
(i) Short term Health Insurance for GDS staff on similar lines as given to health workers by Government of India under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package. (The copy of Press Notification dated 26* March,2020 issued by Government of India is enclosed for kind reference).
(ii) Additional Life Insurance cover for GDS.

This will go a long way in boosting their morale and in giving them confidence to attend to all Post Office operations.
