Government employees to get Work from Home Option of 15 days in a year
DoPT comes up with draft proposal for streamlining work from home for govt officials
The Department of Personnel and Training, DoPT has come up with a draft proposal for streamlining Work from Home for Government officials. Asserting that Central Government employees may have to work with staggered attendance and variable working hours in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, government is considering the option of Work from Home for the eligible officials for 15 days in a year.
In an official communication to all the government departments, the Personnel Ministry said, the COVID-19 pandemic has necessitated many ministries to operate from home to maintain social distancing. It also commended efforts of several ministries and departments for rendering exemplary services by utilising e-office and video conferencing.
DoPT said, a broad framework for work from home is important to standardize the operating procedure even post- lockdown. It also highlighted importance regarding ensuring safety and security of information while accessing government files and information remotely from home.
