Subject: Restrictions in booking/delivery of mail for/in Delhi & Mumbai due to COVID-19 situation-clarification-reg.
Ref. Directorate letters no.30-01/2020-D (Pt.z) dated 10/06/2020.
This has reference to Postal Directorate letter referred above dated 10/06/2020 (copy enclosed) issuing thereby instructions to the Circles to not to accept the booking of non-essential articles from ecommerce companies and Second Class mail, particularly, Registered News Paper for delivery in Delhi & Mumbai.
2. There has been several public complaints that many post offices are not accepting even retail bookings of Speed Post and Registered Post articles from general public and Government offices for Delhi and Mumbai tendered at post office counters.
3. It is, therefore, clarified that there is no restrictions on the retail booking of Speed Post and Registered Post articles for Delhi and Mumbai.
4. Circles are requested to issue necessary instructions to the post offices accordingly, so that retail Speed Post and Registered Post articles tendered by the general public and Government offices for Delhi & Mumbai are not be refused for booking at the post office counters.
