As on 31.03.2024, there are total 6653 vacancy in KVS and 4675 vacancy in NVS of teaching and non-teaching posts against the sanctioned posts 56783 and 24254 respectively.

Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:
(a) the total number of approved vacant posts in KVs and JNVs;
(b) whether it is true that 30 percent of posts are vacant in Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV);
(c) if so, the steps taken/to be taken by the Government to fill these posts;
(d) the details of vacant posts and recruitment made in the last five years;
(e) the number of teaching and non-teaching posts lying vacant in KVs; and
(f) the time by which these are likely to be filled?

(a) to (f) Assessment of vacancies is done by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) as per norms by considering vacancies due to promotion, resignations, retirement, death etc. as well as on account of up-gradation / sanctioning of new streams and enhancement of students’ strength. Centralized notifications for recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staffs are released by KVS and NVS as per the vacancies assessment. Entire recruitment process in KVS and NVS is done centrally.
As per information received from KVS and NVS, as on 31.03.2024, there are total 6653 vacancy in KVS and 4675 vacancy in NVS of teaching and non-teaching posts against the sanctioned posts 56783 and 24254 respectively. Filling up of vacancies is a continuous process and efforts are made to fill up the vacancies as per the provisions of the relevant recruitment rules. Teachers are also engaged on contractual basis for temporary duration by KVS and NVS to ensure that the teaching-learning process is not hampered.
As per information received from KVS, due to COVID-19 pandemic, the recruitment drive for teaching and non-teaching vacant posts was taken up by KVS only in 2023 during the last five years and 13000 offers of appointments were made under Direct Recruitment and 2914 offer of appointments were made under Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) till March, 2024. Further, as per information received NVS, recruitment of 2656 teaching and non-teaching posts in 2019-20, 1925 non-teaching posts in 2021-22 and 2200 teaching posts in 2022-23 were made by NVS against the vacancies during the last five years.
