Karnataka Government Holidays 2023 | Government of Karnataka Holiday List 2023 PDF
Karnataka is generally closed on all public holidays in all central and state government offices. There are totally 25 public holidays in Karnataka and has some special holidays. Karnataka State Government has announced the 2023 Holiday List for its State Government Administrative Offices, Educational Institutions and Banks.

The following list of the General Holiday sanctioned by the Government for the year 2023 is published for general information.
All Second Saturdays, Fourth Saturdays, Sundays and the following days.
- 26.01.2023 – Thursday – Republic Day
- 18.02.2023 – Saturday – Maha Shivaratri
- 22.03.2023 – Wednesday – Ugadi Festival
- 03.04.2023 – Monday – Mahaveera Jayanthi
- 07.04.2023 – Friday – Good Friday
- 14.04.2023 – Friday – Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanthi
- 01.05.2023 – Monday – May Day
- 29.06.2023 – Thursday – Bakrid
- 29.07.2023 – Saturday – Last Day of Moharam
- 15.08.2023 – Tuesday – Independence Day
- 18.09.2023 – Monday – Varasiddhi Vinayaka Vrata
- 28.09.2023 – Thursday – Eid-Milad
- 02.10.2023 – Monday – Gandhi Jayanthi

Note:
- This list does not include Uttarayana Punyakala, Makara Sankranti Festival (15.01.2023), Basava Jayanthi / Akshaya Tritiya (23.04.2023) and Naraka Chaturdashi (12.11.2023) which falls on Sundays and Mahalaya Amavasye (14.10.2023) which falls on Second Saturday and Khutub-E-Ramzan (22.04.2023), Maharshi Valmiki Javanthi (28.10.2023) which falls on Fourth Saturday.
- Government Offices will be closed through out the State on General Holidays. However, Heads of department should make necessary arrangements for the discharge of urgent works.
- If any of the Holidays for the festivals of Muslim Fraternity notified above does not fall on the date notified, Muslim Fraternity in Government Service may be granted holiday on the date of observance in view of the holidays already notified.
- Local Holiday is declared for kodagu District only on account of Kail Muhuruth on 03.09.2023 (Sunday), Tula Sankramana on 18.10.2023 (Wednesday) and Huthri Festival on 28.11.2023 (Tuesday).
- Separate list of Holidays will be published by the Commissioner of Public Instructions for the Education Department.
- In addition to the General Holidays the State Government Employees may utilize any of the restricted holidays not exceeding two days during the year 2023 with prior permission from the authority who is authorized to sanctioned Casual Leave.

Under the explanation of Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881 (Act No.XXVI of 1881) read with Notification No. 20/25/26/Pub-l. Dated: 15.06.1957 of the Government of India. Ministry of Home Affairs the following shall be Public Holidays throughout the State of Karnataka during the year 2023.
