Holiday List of Karnataka Govt 2024
In Karnataka, all central and state government offices are generally closed on all public holidays. Government of Karnataka has published the list of holidays for the year 2024. The list contains a total of 21 holidays including national and regional holidays. Republic Day, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti and Christmas Day are some of the major holidays. In addition, there are many regional holidays such as Ugadi, Vijayadasami and Kannada Rajyothsava and all 2nd and 4th Saturdays would also be observed as Holidays. Note:
1. This list does not include Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanthi (14.04.2024) & Mahaveera Jayanthi (21.04.2024) which falls on Sundays and Vijayadasami (12.10.2024) which falls on Second Saturday.
2. Government Offices will be closed through out the State on General Holidays. However, Heads of department should make necessary arrangements for the discharge of urgent works.
3. If any of the Holidays for the festivals of Muslim Fraternity notified above does not fall on the date notified, Muslim Fraternity in Government Service may be granted holiday on the date of observance in view of the holidays already notified.
4. Local Holiday is declared for Kodagu District only on account of Kail Muhuruth on 03.09.2024 (Tuesday), Tula Sankramana on 17.10.2024 (Thursday) and Huthri Festival on 14.12.2024 (Saturday).
5. Separate list of Holidays will be published by the Commissioner of Public Instructions for the Education Department.
6. In addition to the General Holidays the State Government Employees may utilize any of the restricted holidays not exceeding two days during the year 2024 with prior permission from the authority who is authorized to sanctioned Casual Leave.

Under the explanation of Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881 (Act No.XXVI of 1881) read with Notification No. 20/25/26/Pub-l, Dated: 15.06.1957 of the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs the following shall be Public Holidays throughout the State of Karnataka during the year 2024.
All Second Saturdays, Fourth Saturdays, Sundays and the following days.
