Kerala State Government has announced the 2023 Holiday List for its State Government Administrative Offices, Educational Institutions and Banks.

Restricted Holidays
- Ayya Vaikunda Swami Jayanthi – 12.3.2023 – Sunday – Government Quasi Government and Public Sector Undertaking Employees and Teachers belonging to Nadar Community are permitted to avail Restricted Holiday.
- Avani Avittom – 30.8.2023 – Wednesday – Government Employees belonging to Brahmin Community are permitted to avail Restricted Holiday.
- Vishwakarma day – 17.9.2023 – Sunday – Government Quasi Government and Public Sector Undertaking Employees and Teachers belonging to Vishwakarma Community are permitted to avail Restricted Holiday.

Onam 2023 Date Kerala
First Onam – 28th August 2023 – Monday, Thiruvonam – 29th August 2023 – Tuesday, Third Onam – 30th August 2023 – Wednesday and Fourth Onam / Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi – 31st August 2023 – Thursday are declared as public holidays in Kerala state.
Onam is an Hindu harvest festival celebrated in Kerala. This festival is celebrated on the appearance of the Vamana avatar of Vishnu and the subsequent homecoming of the King Mahabali. Legend says that the people of Kerala celebrate the arrival of the king over the course of 10 days. The 10 days of the festival are named after the astrological stars of the Malayalam calendar. The ten days are sequentially known as Atham, Chithira, Chodhi, Vishakam, Anizham, Thriketa, Moolam, Pooradam, Uthradam and Thiruvonam.

Under the explanation to Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (Central Act 26 of 1881) read with the Notification of the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs No. 20/25/56/Pub.1 dated 8th June 1957, the Government of Kerala are hereby pleased to declare that in addition to Sundays, expressly defined as Public Holidays in the said explanation, the following days shall be Public Holidays Under Negotiable Instruments Act in Kerala for the Calendar year 2023.
