KVS FAQ on Contractual Staff Salary

1. Give brief on process of engaging contractual teacher?

  • The Principal of KV will assess the requirement of teachers to be appointed on contract basis before the start of the academic session and get and approval of Chairman, Vidyalaya Management Committee (VMC).
  • Requirement may be given wide publicity through local newspaper and also put on the notice board of the Vidyalaya.
  • The Selection Committee should be constituted with the approval of Chairman, Vidyalaya Management Committee (VMC). The selection should be strictly merit based on Interview and practical classroom observation.
  • The Selection Committee should consist of Chairman/Chairman Nominee, Principal, an eminent Educationist of the area and subject expert for TGTs/PGTs.

2. What are the service rules to teachers engaged on contractual basis?

Ans: The service rules to teachers engaged on contractual basis are as under:-

  • The teacher should possess the required educational qualifications prescribed for direct recruitment to the post.
    Minimum and maximum age limit shall be 18 and 65 years respectively.
  • She/he would be engaged till such time the regular teacher joins or the end of the academic session, whichever is earlier.
  • Candidature of a contractual teacher who has served in a KV in a year may be considered in subsequent years(s) by selection committee for a fresh appointment as contractual teachers, by following due procedure.
  • The teachers engaged should be addressed by the Principal in Kendriya Vidyalayas and their formal acceptance to terms and conditions, attached to the offer, will be obtained.

3. What are the duties of the teacher engaged on contractual basis?

Ans: Teacher engaged on contractual basis will discharge following duties:-

  • Regular classroom activity/copy checking.
  • Invigilation duty/Evaluation work.
  • Helping students and colleagues in preparation and organization of different curricular/Co curricular activities in the Vidyalaya.
  • Any other works assigned by the Principal time to time.

4. What are the norms for payment for contractual teacher?

Ans: The monthly payment towards the contractual teachers and the pro rata payment to the teachers may be regulated as follows.

5. Is there any paid leave available for contractual teacher?

Ans: One paid leave per month on prior approval by the Principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya concerned.

6. Can a teacher engaged on contractual teacher basis repeated for IInd year?

Ans: Yes, Candidature of a contractual teacher who has served in a KV in a year may be considered in subsequent years(s) by selection committee for a fresh appointment as contractual teachers, by following due procedure.

7. What is the qualification of counselor engaged on contractual teacher?

Ans: B.A./B.S.c(Psychology) with certificate of diploma in counseling. It was further decided that in future counselors would be appointed on contractual basis and their remuneration would be as per other contractual TGTs. All the existing counselors, being post-graduate, would be governed as per theirs existing provisions for remuneration.
Desirable qualification required
Minimum of one year experience in providing career/educational counseling to students at schools.
Or
Working knowledge and experience in placement bureaus.
Or
Registration with rehabilitation council of India as vocational counselor.

8. What is the salary of counselor engaged on contractual teacher?

Ans: The salary of counselor engaged on contractual teacher is Rs.25000/- per month.

9. What is the procedure to engage counselor on contractual teacher?

Ans: The procedure to engage counselor on contractual basis is as under:-

  • The teacher should possess the required educational qualifications prescribed for direct recruitment to the post.
    Minimum and maximum age limit shall be 18 and 65 years respectively.
  • She/he would be engaged till such time the regular teacher joins or the end of the academic session, whichever is earlier.

  1. Dealing with low-achieving, under-achieving and high-achieving students
  2. Conducting class surveys to know the career choice of students
  3. Career guidance to students based on the result of administering aptitude test and interest inventory
  4. Helping students to prepare monographs on their choice career occupations
  5. Career talks
  6. Preparation of charts and posters by students
  7. Visit to workplaces
  8. “Meet the profession” programme
  9. Career conference cum exhibition
  10. Setting up ‘Career Guidance Corner’
  11. Providing counseling to problems students

11. What is the qualification of Doctor and Nurses engaged on contractual basis?

Ans:

Doctor (Minimum MBBS and registered with MCI)-Rs.1,000 per day for two hours.
Nurse (Diploma holder) Rs.750 per day.
