In Sikkim, all central and state government offices are generally closed on all public holidays. Government of Sikkim has published the list of holidays for the year 2024. The list contains a total of 25 holidays including national and regional holidays. Republic Day, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti and Christmas Day are some of the major holidays. In addition, there are many regional holidays such as Holi, Ram Navami and Durga Puja and all second and fourth Saturdays would also be observed as Holidays. NOTIFICATION
In exercise of the powers conferred by the Explanation to section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (26 of 1881) read with Notification No. 12/15/GD-JCA dated 24th April, 1995 of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India, the State Government is pleased to declare the holidays specified in the Schedule below to be the Public Holidays for Banks in the State of Sikkim during the Calendar year, 2024.

Bank Holidays in Sikkim 2024
2. Apart from the above, Banks will remain closed for public transactions on account of Yearly Closing of Bank Account on 01.04.2023 (Monday) and Half Yearly Closing of Bank Accounts on 01.10.2024 (Tuesday).
3. The above holidays shall not apply to the Subordinate Courts in the State of Sikkim.
