Sports Quota
Adoor Prakash Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state:-
(a) whether the Government has reviewed the sports quota vacancies to be filled up in public sector in the country;
(b) if so, the total number of vacancies to be filled up in various sectors as on date; and
(c) the details of measures taken by the Government for filling up these vacancies?

(a) to (c): The general policy of sports quota for recruitment of meritorious sportspersons in Central Government Offices is dealt/reviewed by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoP&T) in consultation with concerned stakeholders, including the Department of Sports. Instructions/guidelines on incentives viz. recruitment, out of turn promotion, special leave, etc. to meritorious sportsperson under sports quota issued by DoP&T, are followed by all Ministries/Departments in the Government of India, including the Department of Sports. Moreover, the data relating to vacancies filled up in various Government Departments/Sectors under sports quota is not maintained by the Department of Sports.
