No. IV/1/Part III
Date: 25.12.2017
The General Secretaries of
Affiliated Unions of NFIR
Brother,
Sub: Measures to improve safety on Indian Railways.
Ref: (1) Railway Board’s Letter No. 2017/E(LR)III/Ref/RB/1 dated 30.01.2017
(2) GS/NFIR Letter of even number dated 02.02.2017 addressed to the Chairman, Railway Board.
(3) Railway Board’s Letter No. 2017/E(LR)1II/Ref/RB/1 dated .03.2017 postponing the decision to 30th June 2017.
(4) Railway Board’s Letter No. 2017/E(LR)llI/Ref/RB/1 dated 22/23.06.17 postponing the decision to 31st December 2017.
You are aware that NFIR had walked away from the DC JCM Meeting on 7th March 2017 at Rail Bhavan, New Delhi voicing its strong protest against illegal and unconstitutional order dated 30.01.2017 issued by Railway Ministry prohibiting safety supervisory staff who are office bearers of the unions to continue as such. The Federations’ boycott decision from formal meetings at Railway Board level and General Secretary/NFIR’s meetings with Railway Minister had compelled Railway Board to postpone implementation of Railway Board’s letter dated 30/01/2017 till 31/12/2017.
NFIR has again spoken with the Railway Board on the above subject a few days back and insisted upon withdrawal of Board’s order dated 30/01/2017 totally. The Railway Board have responded positively and moved the proposal for approval of competent authority. Favourable decision is expected within few days.
With Greetings,
Yours fraternally,
sd/-
(Dr.M.Raghavaiah)
General Secretary
