Employee efficiency in Railways

Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state :-
(a) the employee efficiency in Railways over the last ten years, and how does it compare with other developing countries;
(b) whether there have been any studies about the income of railway employees and if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the plan of Government to reduce the expenditure on employees and pensions?
ANSWER

(a) There are no specific studies as regards employee efficiency in Railways and therefore no comparison can be made with other developing countries. However, the Indian Railways has managed its operations with increased loading with lesser number of staff in last 10 years, which has reduced from 13,70,708 as on 01.04.2008 to 12,48,101 as on 01.04.2018 i.e. by 8.94%.

(c) Employees’ salaries and pensions are paid as per recommendations of Pay Commission from time to time, as accepted by the Ministry of Finance.
