Dear Comrades,
You are aware that the ICEU, Visakhapatnam Division, the Divisional Unit of AIIEA is hosting the 25th General Conference of AIIEA at Visakhapatnam in the month of January, 2020.
While the ICEU, Visakhapatnam is in full swing in preparation to host the conference successfully, the vested interests are circulating a letter by one LIC agent on 23/8/2019 to Chief Vigilance Commissioner alleging forcible collection of funds for the conduct of Silver Jubilee Conference of AIIEA at Visakhapatnam from 27-30 January 2020. When verified it is found that no LIC agent by that name is in the agency register of Visakhapatnam Division. On further verification from the postal authorities it is found that address given of the agent is fake and no such person is found in the said address. This makes it clear that it is the handiwork of some degenerated vested interests. It must be noted that in the recent period, some agents close to the ruling party at the centre have been attacking the LIC employees. One of this splinter group from Vizag had written to Finance Minister stating that staff in LIC is excess and the government should take up the exercise of retrenching the excess staff. Another splinter group has written to Prime Minister stating that LIC employees are highly paid and therefore their wages and benefits have to be controlled. Interestingly these messages are being circulated by the forces within the industry who owe allegiance to the ruling party. Clearly they are part of the conspiracy to attack the services and service conditions of LIC.
AIIEA enjoys 100% membership in Visakhapatnam. The entire membership is enthusiastically involved in organising the silver jubilee conference. We are also receiving support from other sections of the employees and trade unions across Vizag. This support is both monetary and physical. There is no doubt that this Conference will be an unprecedented success. It is natural that organising ability of AIIEA, the loyalty it commands from LIC employees and the standing it has in the comity of trade unions is an object of petty jealousy, envy and heartburn for some splinter groups. We, as Visakhapatnam comrades dismiss these slanders and vilification with utter contempt and determined to make the 25th General Conference of AIIEA and unprecedented success.
Comradely yours,
General Secretary
