ANSWER
MINISTER OF HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
(SHRI RAMESH POKHRIYAL ‘NISHANK’)
(a) to (c) Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) are opened primarily to cater to the educational needs of the wards of transferable Central Government Employees including Defence personnel by providing a common programme of education. Proposals for opening of new KVs are considered only if sponsored by Ministries or Departments of the Government of India/State Governments / Union Territories Administrations thereby committing resources for setting up a new KV as well as the availability of necessary sanction of the Government. The proposals received from various sponsoring authorities for opening of new KVs also have to compete among other proposals under the “Challenge Method”.
Three Kendriya Vidyalayas were sanctioned in the State of Tamil Nadu in March, 2019 at BSF, Kittampalayam, ITBP Idayapatti and ITBP Shivgangai. Administrative orders for opening of these Vidyalayas can be issued by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) only after the sponsoring authorities transfer the requisite extent of land in favour of KVS and also hand over the possession of temporary building(s) for commencement of the Vidyalayas. KVS has informed that no proposal has been received in the prescribed format from the State Government of Tamil Nadu for setting up of a new KV in Perambalur Parliamentary Constituency.
(d) During the last three years 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19 and the current year, two new KVs have been opened in the State of Tamil Nadu at Golden Rock Tiruchirapalli and Udumalpet respectively.
